If you have known me for any length of time, you probably know that I have been struggling with my reproductive system since I was 16. I was diagnosed with PCOS and have had several surgeries due to painful cysts. In my early 20's I was diagnosed with Endometriosis.

Many people are unsure of what endometriosis is. Endometriosis is where the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. These lesions are similar to blisters. It can cause these lesions to develop scar tissue which oozes out and can have the internal organs stick together. Imagine having tens or hundreds of sore blisters inside of your pelvis that hurts without any warning or movement. It hurts to pay down, it hurts to sit, it hurts to use the bathroom. Traditional OTC medications do not even touch the pain and for fear of developing a habit, I try to shy away from narcotic and rely on my heating pad and help from friends and family.

I have tried every treatment imaginable before resorting to a hysterectomy. Due to a heart issue I am unable to take estrogen and have tried every progesterone option available including the depo-shot (caused me to almost need a blood transfusion), IUD (was expelled from my uterus twice and also perforated it the last time causing a hospital stay), and every pill.

I had genetic testing done in my early 20's which tested positive for BRCA1 & BRCA2. What does this mean? It means I tested positive for the genetic mutation for breast and ovarian cancer. This came as no surprise as women in my family have struggled with these diseases for years.

After my BRCA diagnosis, I had to have exams every 6 months due to my increased risk of developing cancer. I was diagnosed with hyperplasia in February 2018 in my uterus. This means that my uterus is enlarged due to the rate of cells it's producing. This is often the first sign of cancer developing. After receiving these results my doctor feels that in order to protect my health and my sanity I need to have a full hysterectomy at 29.

My surgery is scheduled for 8/22/18. The day after receiving the surgery date my husband's job unexpectedly closed. They cancelled our insurance effective for 6/21/2018, and since they closed down we are not eligible for COBRA. I have contacted ACA but they will not cover the surgery per the pre-conditions clause. My doctor is willing to decrease her doctor's fee to $1500, and the hospital is discounting my fee to $9000. The hospital is not allowing payment arrangements as any surgery that is scheduled, regardless of being medically necessary or not, is considered elective. They require the full $9000 up front. I am now having to pay for my EKG and chest scans 100% out of pocket as well.

Every donation helps and I appreciate the effort no matter how small!
