At HALO (Helicopter Air Lift Operation), we are focused on providing emergency rescue transportation for people within the Southern Alberta and SW Saskatchewan regions. We provide assistance to first responders and aid in the transportation of individuals to local and regional emergency facilities.
Our operations are not covered by the government, we are kept running by private donations. We provide advertising opportunities as an additional appreciation for the people and companies that support HALO.
HALO is pleased to offer the only dedicated medical rescue helicopter for this area. It is a much needed contribution to the already established air and Alberta Health Services EMS ground ambulances. The availability of the helicopter improves response time to trauma victims in remote or inaccessible areas and increases our coverage area for delivering Qualitative Medical Care.
When emergency service is required, call 911. There is no charge to the patient for this service.
HALO has been dispatched on approximately 200 missions since our inception.
Boundaries of the former Palliser Health Region encompasses in excess of an awe-inspiring 50,000 square kilometers. The remoteness of our region, the lack of landing strips, and the limited availability of other emergency air rescue helicopters was the impetus for HALO (previously known as the Southern Alberta MedicAir Society) to begin planning and fundraising for their dream of having a dedicated medical rescue helicopter for the south east corner of Alberta. In July of 2007 that dream became a reality! And since then many lives have.been saved.
