Help Granny& my paralyzed mom Sonja find housing

Donation protected
Her entire life, Granny Willie Jean has been caring for others. When her daughter Sonja became paralyzed at a young age, she stepped up and not only cared for her disabled daughter, but her grandchildren as well. Granny has been the matriarch of the Denson clan for the last several decades, but now, Granny needs our help.

Granny  and her paralyzed daughter Sonja are being thrown out of the home they’ve known for 14 years due to gentrification. They are currently living in Redwood City which, due to the proximity to tech companies like Google, Facebook, or elite schools like Stanford, has become very attractive and their landlord was only giving them until 12/30 to vacate. With an extension they now have until the end of January. They were served with a 90-day notice to vacate on 9/30/18 or pay more than $3,000 a month for rent which is unthinkable.

Granny has been looking every day for somewhere to live but very few of these greedy landlords will consider a poor, elderly woman with a disabled daughter when so many rich techies are willing to pay top dollar for a unit. Granny spends her days caring for her daughter who cannot work and is living off of state assistance since she cannot work due to her daughter’s disability. She does not have savings or much to work with.

Family is helping as much as they can, but she needs help with moving expenses such as renting a truck, down payments, etc., which is more than the family has. Since Granny’s been living paycheck to paycheck and devoting all her savings to obtaining medical care for Sonja, she is scared she will have no place to go.

WE CANNOT ALLOW OUR ELDERS TO BE DISPLACED. We cannot allow Granny to become homeless. Not when she has spent her entire life nurturing and caring for everyone else.

Please, if you can donate just a few dollars, it would make a HUGE difference to Granny Willie and her family this Christmas. Imagine during this holiday season, that instead of thinking about what you’re going to get your loved ones for Christmas, you were having to prepare to be homeless? Granny needs all the support she can get so please donate, share on social media or forward any leads for landlords who are open to Section 8 vouchers. She would prefer to stay in the Peninsula and South bay to be closer to her daughter’s doctors, but since it is an emergency, we are open to all suggestions currently.
