Help Gracie Fight Cancer

$810 of $2,500 goal

Raised by 18 people in 4 months

Gracie had recently developed a bump behind her front leg, it looked like a hive or some kind of allergy related symptom. Gracie had been scratching like crazy and her usual allergy medication was not helping. We decided to take Gracie to the vet to see what more we could do to relieve her itching. The lump was aspirated and upon first glance, the collected cells appeared abnormal. The sample was sent to a lab for analysis and the results came back that Gracie is positive for cancer.

Gracie has a Mast Cell Tumor (MCT) that is described as being very aggressive. The excessive scratching we witnessed was a result of the affected cells releasing histamine in Gracie's body. Learning about the nature of MCTs, we could not afford to waste time scheduling surgery to have the mass removed.

Just days after being diagnosed, Gracie's weakened immune system made her vulnerable for a parasite in her digestive tract. The parasite caused her to become ill to the point that we had to rush her to an emergency vet for treatment.

We are seeking donations to help us cover the cost of multiple veterinary visits, a trip to the ER, medication, surgery, a trip to an oncologist and supplies for her recovery.

In a few short weeks, Gracie will be four years old. This girl has given us so much love, laughs and joy in her few years; we will do anything we can to ensure she lives a full, happy and healthy life. Willow is even doing her part to help Gracie recover by giving her plenty of snuggles and kisses.

We would be so grateful for any help we can get to help our girl in her fight against cancer.

Gracie saw the oncologist to go over the results of her surgery. Dr.Tani did a great job, she got clean margins (all of the known cancer cells were constrained to the removed mass of skin). The oncologist was concerned that a lymph node near the surgical site was inflamed. A cell sample was taken but it came back inconclusive. Gracie goes back for a re-check next week. If the lymph node is still inflamed, she may need to have it removed. Fingers crossed it is unrelated to the MCT.

Gracie has her stitches taken out over the weekend. She managed to fight off the infection but she still has pain from time to time. Willow is doing her best to comfort Gracie. The next step is a follow up check on her incision site and then a trip to the oncologist for a treatment plan. Thank you so much for your continued support for our girl. We couldn’t do this without you.

Gracie is healing well and she is starting to get around a bit better. We're still waiting on the lab results to confirm the stage and severity of the tumor. It's a relief to see her wag her tail again. In another week, she'll be back to the vet to have her stitches and staples removed. She is using her time to maximize her snuggling. Thank you for all of your help so far!

Gracie has a large incision from surgery in a high mobility area of her body. The poor girl is in so much pain that she's often afraid to move.
We're waiting on lab results from the surgery and then we'll have a better idea about the severity of the cancer.
For now, it's all love and snuggles for Gracie as we do our best to ease her pain.
