Help Gabbana Get Medical Treatment

Meet Gabbana: Gabbana is our 11-year-old Boston Terrier. It’s no secret that everyone who meets Gabbana falls in love with her playfulness and gentle being. She has always loved playing in the sun and following you no matter where you go. She has always been super energetic and loyal!

As of this year, Gabbana has been battling fecal and urinary incontinence and weakened hind legs. She often wakes up with a messy behind or wets places she would never have before. It pains us to find her lying in a dirty bed and see her go to her cage in shame. She also can’t walk up the stairs or jump onto furniture as easily as she used to. She often falls or hesitates when completing such a task. For now, we have put her in diapers, got her mini stairs for the couch, and taken her to a neurologist whom she was referred to.

After her appointment, we found out that her incontinence and weakness is due to something involving her spine. It could be a slipped disc, a tumor, trauma from a fall, etc., but the doctor won’t know what exactly is wrong without an MRI. Without the MRI, we won’t be able to treat specifically what happened to Gabbana.

Unfortunately, the medical expenses that come with Gabbana’s MRI and treatment afterward are costly. Her insurance won’t cover the costs since her symptoms are pre-existing. Although Gabbana is getting older, we still want to give her the best last years of her life possible and ensure that she continues to be the happy, loving dog everyone knows. Conoce a Gabbana: Gabbana es nuestra Boston Terrier de 11 años. No es ningún secreto que todos los que conocen a Gabbana se enamoran de su carácter juguetón y gentil. Siempre le ha gustado jugar bajo el sol y seguirte sin importar a dónde vayas. ¡Ella siempre ha sido súper enérgica y leal!

Desde hace un año, Gabbana ha estado luchando contra la incontinencia fecal y urinaria y las patas traseras debilitadas. A menudo se despierta con un trasero sucio o tiene accidentes en lugares que nunca antes habría tenido. Nos duele encontrarla acostada en una cama ensuciada y verla ir a su jaula avergonzada. Tampoco puede subir las escaleras o saltar sobre los muebles tan fácilmente como solía hacerlo. A menudo se cae o duda de completar estas simples acciones. Por ahora, le pusimos pañales, le conseguimos unas mini-escaleras para el sofá y la llevamos a un neurólogo al que fue referida.

Después de su cita, descubrimos que su incontinencia y debilidad se deben a algo relacionado con su columna. Podría ser una hernia de disco, un tumor, un trauma por algún caída ó accidente, etc., pero el médico no sabrá exactamente qué es lo que está mal sin una resonancia magnética. Sin la resonancia magnética, no podremos saber específicamente lo que tiene Gabbana.

Desafortunadamente, los gastos médicos que conlleva la resonancia magnética de Gabbana y el tratamiento posterior son costosos. Su seguro no cubrirá los costos ya que sus síntomas son preexistentes. Aunque Gabbana está envejeciendo, todavía queremos darle los mejores últimos años de vida que podamos y asegurarnos de que siga siendo la perra feliz y amorosa que todos conocen.
