I have been very hesitant to start a go fund me page in order to raise money for my next spine surgery, but at this point I have no choice. My physical condition has taken a turn for the worse in the past month and I am faced with yet another pressing time frame.
As many of you know by my social media oversharing and venting, I have been living with chronic nerve and back pain. This started as a result of a car accident in 2008 that left me with a whole new perspective on life and physical health. In August 2016 I was then sidelined by an emergency spine surgery that racked up to $20,000. I took pride in paying my last bill in the 2017 and began building back my savings account this year. After weeks of escalating pain and nerve damage, and a decade of chronic pain and pain management, I have lost my quality of life. My job as a wellness practitioner is compromised, my happiness both in the gym and throughout life has been hampered, and my love for golf has been repressed. Turns out the necessary emergency surgery in 2016 was ultimately just a bandaid and the true fix is a Lumbar Spinal fusion (yes, like Tiger Woods).
Even though I am a NYS insured individual and an independent working woman in New York City, I face the challenge of a surgery that will compromise my already compromised profession. In 2016 I lost almost 3 months of income due to surgery and rehabilitation. This next surgery will not only place my income on hold once again but will cost $35,000 for the surgeon alone. This doesn’t include any post operative care, physical therapy or household costs such as rent, utilities, and groceries.
I have finally found an AMAZING spine surgeon that has deemed me an ideal candidate due to my age and physical condition for spinal fusion. With an 80% projected success rate and a reduction of most of my pain symptoms, I am hopeful to end this once and for all.
I am truly thankful for any donations, food contributions, visitations or prayers you have for the success of this surgery and appreciate the time you took to read through my predicament.
