help fund a wheelchair accessible vehicle for Kate

My name is Kate and I am a Busselton resident of 39 years. I am a single parent living with my 13-year-old son. I suffer from a degenerative condition called Friedrich’s ataxia which I was born with however I wasn't diagnosed until I was 17 when the symptoms started to show.  The condition results in gradual weakening all of my muscles over time. As I have gotten older my condition has deteriorated and I now rely on an electric wheelchair to get around. I am still able to drive a car however I have recently lost the ability to be able to get in and out of my own car which is now rendered useless to me.  I rely on accessible taxis to take me or my son wherever we need to go which greatly impacts our lives and limits our autonomy and independence. I am no longer able to drive to the shop, take my son to and from school, sports and medical appointments, or simply do the things we would otherwise enjoy doing together where and whenever we choose.  

I am now in need of a larger car with a ramp or hoist for me to get in and out. A reliable and adequate second hand accessible car is likely to cost a minimum of $25,000. Once I have a vehicle the NDIS will help fund the modifications such as ramp or hoist but they do not help people to purchase the car to begin with.  Living on a disability pension means I am not able to get a loan from a bank and am therefor asking for assistance from the community to help me and my son purchase a suitable vehicle to have the freedom  to travel when and where we need and help me provide the best life I possibly can for my son.
