Until the 10th of November,  Nkumbu  Nayame was a regular, lively, chatty, outgoing , 3 year old who loved having fun with her family and friends in Lusaka, Zambia. Unfortunately just over a month ago, she was involved in an accident that resulted in 3rd degree burns covering 47% of her body from boiling hot water.

Since then her condition has deteriorated. She has been in and out of intensive care and the latest development is that she is starting to lose her vision. The incredible health care team at various hospitals in Zambia have been doing their best to save her life, but she needs more specialist care.

The proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to transfer her, via air ambulance, to a state of the art medical facility in South Africa and pay for the life saving treatment she desperately needs during her stay there.

Please be part of the family that helps save her life this Christmas.

Hello Everyone,
Here's an update on 3 year old Nkumbu who before Christmas suffered third degree burns covering large areas of part of her body.

This has been a difficult and busy period for the entire family but we appreciate the patience from everyone who donated and those who simply want to know how she's been doing.

Nkumbu was released from the intensive care unit of the University Teaching Hospital in mid January 2019 , thanks to the hard working doctors and other hospital staff at UTH . She is now out of the most critical and dangerous period.

Although she was doing a lot better, a decision was made to send her for further medical treatment in India. She needed further treatment to deal with the complication of a clot in her brain and to ascertain what caused her blindness and confirm that her sight was completely restored . India was chosen over South Africa because the specialist hospital in India was more affordable and had the staff and equipment that could deal with her condition.

She was flown to India on 10th February 2019 and is due to fly back to Zambia on the 20th February 2019 The money used from fundraising both on GoFundMe and individual donations was used to pay for the treatment in India . Money taken out on loans by family members was used to pay for travel expenses and other related costs . As a family we are grateful to the Zambia High Commission in India for the support and Apolo Hospital for the support rendered to Nkumbu and her mum during their stay in India . Now that Nkumbu is out of danger, we would like to close the GoFundMe page.

Words cannot express how grateful we are for the love and support shown across the world. Most importantly we are thankful to see Nkumbu improving each day.
God richly bless you for your generosity !

Here is an update on 3 year old Nkumbu.
She is still in a critical condition in the intensive care unit of The University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Zambia. The burns covering 47% of her body have left her at a high risk of infections. There are lots of complications, including the loss of her vision, that the doctors in Zambia are working hard to solve. Until the funds are raised to take her to South Africa that is where she will remain. Thank you to all those who have donated, both in Zambia and abroad. The entire family has been overwhelmed and filled with gratitude by the kindness shown from people all over the word. Please continue to pray for and support the campaign in anyway you can.
