Help 18-year old shooting victim

Donation protected
Eighteen-year-old Denilson had just left his family’s home in East Oakland, holding his phone, jumping in his car to go see friends. Six bullets were fired from a nearby vehicle, one of which went straight into his spine. When his dad ran out after hearing the shots he found his son, unable to move and barely talking.

Now, three weeks later, Denilson is able to move his arms but so far not his fingers. The doctors say that it is a miracle he survived, but he will never walk again. The bullet in his upper spine cannot be removed and he will remain paralyzed for the rest of his life.

The parents are overcome with grief, unable to understand why and what happened, struggling to figure out what to do next. Already expenses are piling up as they are dealing with this tragedy. Denilson had been living with his parents who are both working full-time to support the four children. His dad has been a house painter for many years and Denilson wanted to become a painter just like him. Denilson was saving up money for a pick-up truck, taking English classes and playing with his younger siblings.

Denilson and his family need your help in getting through these hard times, immediately and for a long time to come. Every little bit of support will go a long way in easing the financial burden on the family and in giving them hope and strength.
________________________________

UPDATE:
GoFundME is asking for the following information and updates to the campaign:

My name is Moshe Gavrieli, living in Oakland CA, and I have known and worked with Rene daily for the past 15 years. This campaign is co-sponsored by myself and Nina Boeddeker.

I started this campaign on his behalf and all the funds collected will go directly to him and his family as cash withdrawn in our names.

Right now the most urgent expenses that this money will go to are the co-pays of the immediate medical bills. After that, the house will need to be modified to make it possible to bring Denilson home in a wheelchair. The family is in search of a safer home where they will be able to better care for him.
