Help Union City Officer shot in line of duty

$8,315 of $15,000 goal

Raised by 138 people in 4 months

We never thought we’d ever have to create a page like this. Our lives have changed tremendously...Last Monday, April, 1st, my husband was shot multiple times in the line of duty responding to what seemed to be a routine call for service.

It was like a gun fight to protect the streets of our community. Every time I think about it, it’s difficult to imagine him fighting for me, his children, his family, his community and you while fighting for his life.

He has underwent several surgeries thus far and still awaiting prognosis. This has not been an easy road.

Officer Turner and all of our men and women in blue serve us & defend our streets daily to protect us from mayhem, mischief, and so much more. Sometimes we never stop to think, “My son, my daughter, my brother, my husband could be on the other side of that bullet one day.” Now, what could've only been a thought is now my reality...

The impact this has had on him and the entire family has been beyond anything I’ve ever experienced.

My husband has always wanted to be a Police Officer and no matter what he saw in the news or what happened in life, he was determined to follow his dream.  As a HBCU Grad of Florida A&M and former Chief of Police, he has always been a great example of community leadership, selflessness, and honor. To protect and serve.

Being a great husband and wonderful father of 3, he was the sole provider for our family.

I’m calling on every wife, family member, or friend of a Police Officer, every brother and sister of Blue, every community member, and every individual that want our streets protected by those that really care and have a passion to serve YOU. We need your help.

We’re asking for your prayers, support, and financial contributions for medical expenses, day to day living for his children, and assistance to cover what has been lost.

UPDATE:
This has been a very trying time, but the amount of support from the community, family, complete strangers, and friends  serve as a testament to the kindness and generosity that still exists in this world.

THANK YOU sincerely for your support and please continue to pray for the entire Turner Family as we try to come to grips with such a tragic experience.

Please continue to pray.

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

I must be the first to say God is good. He deserves the praise for all that I have endured and came through on. As of today, I am officially able to walk with assistance of a cane (tactical Black Edition). I am also able to drive to my local Walmart and fast food restaurants. I want to thank each of you for your continued prayers, support, love and donations. It remains humbling to see the love and support of my community and strangers near and far. The blue line does run Coast to Coast and I am a proud supporter of what we stand for.

My family and I thank each of you for everything. The road to full recovery and on duty status remains challenging but I’m committed to the task and look to get back out and continue serving the very community that accepted me.

Thank you and much love,
Officer Jerome Turner Jr.

Good morning to all:
I am now home beginning the task of physical and mental recovery. The past month has dealt my family and I tremendous ups and downs, however, we made it through. There is nothing that can prepare any public servant for moments like this. We get out daily and leave our families to protect others in their time of need, selflessly; and on this day, it happened for me. I am grateful to be here to be able to provide this update and thank each of you for your support thus far. As I start the recovery process now, times will get tough and I anticipate a great deal of support for my family and I. I expect to make a full recovery and look to get back to serving my community. I humbly thank each of you for your support thus far and look to thank you individually. Thank you for everything! Please keep my family and I in your prayers as we tackle this recovery process. Thank you again and God bless each of you.
