Help for the Koonar Family

Donation protected
Ranjeet Koonar, retired member of our Canadian Navy and father of two, was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer in October. His cancer was deemed inoperable, and his wife Parm took a leave of absence from her job as a medical receptionist to care for him and their twin boys. The arrival of Covid-19 made things more difficult for the family, but not as difficult as the house fire that drove them from their home in Kanata at the beginning of May. They've been staying with family while they wait patiently for the permits they need to repair their home, but things have been moving at a snail's pace.

Unfortunately, the story doesn't end there. Recently, Ranjeet's chemo treatments have stopped working. His doctors want to start him on a new drug (Abraxane) that is not covered by OHIP or their private insurance, but it costs $6000 per month. Needless to say, this is well beyond their means at this time.

Here's where we can help. Every little bit you can spare to help Ranjeet and his family get back on their feet will be greatly appreciated. They are kind-hearted, generous, hard-working people, but they can't do it on their own anymore. Thank you for reading their story and giving all you can.
