Help for the Bradshay Family!

Donation protected
The Bradshay family has already faced down some serious challenges in the last two years. InJanuary of 2018, their youngest twins Addison and Avery were born unexpectedly at 32 weeks and both Sarah and Avery nearly died in the process. Addison was born with a very large tongue and could not eat by mouth. The babies spent nearly two months in the NICU and Addison went home with a nasal feeding tube. She was very sick and doctors told the family that Addison would likely not live. As such, Sarah made the difficult decision to leave her job and care for Addison and the other four kids full-time. Melissa became the sole financial support for their family.

Addison’s care has been completely consuming. She was diagnosed with a condition called Beckwith Wiedemann Syndrome and has a team of seven specialists to deal with her feeding, genetic and physical challenges. Addison is still challenged with eating due to her tongue and is fed via a feeding tube in her stomach as well as what she can handle by mouth. She needs a specialized surgery to correct the size of her tongue as well as quarterly monitoring to check for specific, aggressive forms of cancer that 1 in 5 kids with Beckwith Weidemann Syndrome will develop. Addison also has hemihypertrophy, which is a common side effect of BWS that causes the two halves of the body to grow at different rates. This requires physical therapy and treatment with an Orthopedic surgeon. Sarah has worked incredibly hard to make sure that Addison beat every doctor’s prediction - against all odds she is now walking and is a very happy girl, even with her physical difficulties.

This past week, Melissa unexpectedly lost her job as a Senior Project Engineer for a large construction firm in Portland. This is a double-edged blow to the family: not only are they now without their sole source of income, but they’re without health insurance. This is, quite literally, a potentially life and death situation for Addison. Her next cancer screening was set for Tuesday and had been canceled due to lack of insurance. Two of the older kids have continuous medical treatment as well.

This GoFundMe has been started to support this family as they try and get back on their feet as well as to support the medical costs of Addison’s treatment - out of pocket expenses AFTER insurance were nearly $1300 every month. That is, of course, in addition to rent and utilities and all of the other things that a family of seven needs to survive.

Any help you could offer this family is profoundly appreciated!
