Help for my sister Traci

Donation protected
Hi everyone. Most people know me and therefore know that I am a fun, happy, outgoing, independent, yet private person. However, there comes a time in life where everyone needs the help of others and this is that time for my family. My sister Traci has suffered an extreme emergency the past week and is in need of others generosity. This is her story.

Traci is 43 years old and is married to her husband Brian for almost 6 years. She is a loving and dedicated daughter, sister and aunt who has helped me and my sons more times than I can count. She has a huge heart and would do anything for anyone....and has! This past week Traci was admitted into Mt. Sinai Hospital in NYC and told she might need a liver transplant. Things progressed very quickly and took a terrible turn for the worst and within a few days was put on the list for both a liver and kidney transplant as her kidney had failed too. My sister and our family are not strangers to this procedure unfortunately. Traci required an emergency liver transplant when she was just 19 years old and a sophomore in college for a random illness that turned deadly within a few weeks. As a result of that surgery and the tons of anti rejection medication she takes....which reeks havoc on your other internal organs....Traci lost the function of her kidneys by 29 and required a kidney transplant in which my brother, Shane, donated one of his to her. I have watched my sister go through this since I was a senior in high school. It has been painful to watch as a family. In many ways my sister is very lucky because after being deemed only a few days to live she was bumped to number one in the nation on the national donor list and within one day we got the call that they had located a liver and kidney donor match for Traci from a young woman from the Bronx who's family so selflessly donated their loved ones organs. Traci has made it through the surgery and her now 4th organ transplant but her recovery road ahead is long and arduous and financially crippling. Traci has been a special Ed high school teacher with the same school since she graduated from college but will need to be home and recover for the next several months in order to give herself and these new organs the best chance for survival.

We are reaching out to our extended family and friends to ask for any amount you can spare in order to help Traci and Brian lighten their financial burden while she is out of work. As just an example, she is required to have extensive testing and blood work done for the first month several days a week in NYC and is on more medication a day than most people take in several months to a years time. We are a very proud family and do not usually ask anyone for help and therefore this was very difficult for us to put together but I know she will struggle and I don't want to see that nor have that stress hinder her recovery process. This one has caught her and her husband and our family completely off guard. We are so very thankful for everyone's thoughts and prayers and well wishes for Traci and I ask that you keep them coming so that my sister can make a full and complete recovery and go back to the energetic, hard working person I know! Health, both mental and physical, is something that we can take for granted at times, and it's been a very scary time for us this past week or so. I want to thank everyone in advance for any help you can throw her way. We appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts and we love you all so much!! And please....check off to be a donor....I never realized the importance of that little checked box until it directly impacted my family. Donors save lives....they've saved my sister ❤️
