Help for Matteo Manzoni (Matt)

Matt is my previous flatmate and a dear friend of mine.    He is from Italy and has lived in Melbourne for almost 4 years where he originally came to do a big O.E (oversea's experience) on a working holiday but fell in love with this city and his beautiful partner Anne-marie. He has just finished some further studies. He has had continuous work with one company in Fashion retail throughout his time here in Oz but like many,  was stood down in March due to Government restrictions which have lasted 7 months here in Victoria.   Not being a permanent resident means he does not qualify for any government assistance or free health care even though there is a reciprocal agreement between the two countries Matteo faces large medical costs. On Thursday 8th of October,  Matt decided to get a covid test as he had developed an iritating cough.  It come back negative and he decided to get a check up with his doctor anyway.   He was sent for a chest xray.   While getting the xray the radiologist left the room and got her supervisor.  Then Matt was asked to follow them into another room to complete an unplanned CT scan on the spot. The bad news was that there is a mass in his chest which is they suspected as Lymphoma which has now been confirmed as stage 4 diffuse large b cell Lymphoma. He has been admitted into the haematology ward at the Alfred hosptial and is awaiting his first round of chemotherapy treatment starting in coming days. Given he does not qualify for Australian health care (medicare)  and the coverage of his private health insurance unclear at this stage, I've decided to try and help out financially with treatment costs and to get his mother here from Italy to help through this challenging time. Doctors are currently seeking an exception from the government to allow a non-citizen to travel here which looks promising. Please, if you can help in anyway, even a couple of dollars it can add up quickly! Please share to help!
