My friend Mary James HIggs and Jimmy Higgs were in a terrible auto accident which has left them both unable to work. They are now in danger of losing their apartment.
I know Mary from Providence High School, where she has been a hard-working custodian with a very big heart. She has an excellent work ethic and she is eager to get back to work. Her doctor is clear that Mary will not be able to to be back to work until March at the earliest. They are working very hard on their rehab exercises at home to try to meet that goal.
Mary had surgery for a broken back, and had 7 broken bones. Jimmy is recovering from shoulder surgery and a broken femur. They spent 6 weeks in a rehab facility. They got a new apartment just before the accident. Since the entry is not wheelchair accessible, they have not been able to leave the apartment since they returned from rehab.
They are asking for help with basic food and rent until they can quite literally get back on their feet.
