Help For Grandma's Girls

On the morning of March 7th, I said goodbye to my husband, daughter, two granddaughters and our dog as they headed to doctors’ appointments in Fort Pierce. I’d never expect that this would be the last time I say goodbye to my husband. That morning my family’s SUV was involved in a fatal car accident with a truck and trailer hauling citrus. My husband of 35 years and the driver of that truck were taken. My daughter Amanda and my 2 granddaughters Alexa and Aleisha suffered horrific injuries. Amanda and Alexa were transported to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center. Amanda has been in ICU since the crash with severe internal and spinal injuries and has been kept under ICU sedation to keep her from hurting herself due to having an open abdomen in between surgeries. Due to my daughter being unconscious during this time she is still unaware of the traumatic events and the losses that our family is currently facing. My granddaughter Alexa who is 10 years old spent two days in the pediatric trauma unit. She had a fractured collar bone, broken nose, loss of teeth and splintered braces, cuts, bumps and bruises. Thankfully after 2 days she was discharged and is recovering at home with myself and her older sister Ari. My granddaughter Aleisha who is 9 years old suffered the most severe injuries. Responding firefighters and emergency personnel brought my granddaughter back to life and she was airlifted to St Mary’s Hospital in critical condition. In addition to two broken arms, legs, shattered pelvis and jaw, blood clots in her lungs she also has a tube in place to drain fluids from her brain. Aleisha has been unconscious since the accident. Her neurological, mental, and physical prognosis are unknown at this time. She has undergone and will undergo more surgery. After being notified of the devastating car accident my family was in, grieving the loss of my husband and our family dog, I am overwhelmed with the challenges I face of our home being in Okeechobee, Amanda being at Lawnwood Hospital in serious condition, Aleisha at St Mary’s in Palm Beach while taking care of Alexa who has been recovering at home. We are in financial distress and needing any help you can give. My husband was the only financial provider and aside from funeral expenses, medical bills, therapy appointments, transportation costs, and living expenses, our home is leaking and in need of roof repairs. Thank you for any and all donations to help my family in our time of need.
