How it started
On arrival at our holiday villa in Crete we were greeted with the pitiful sight of a tiny kitten abandoned and starving. We couldnt ignore its plight and went out searching for suitable food to keep it alive. Over the last week it has grown in size and boldness and now loves spending time around human beings. We have called her Clio.
We have contacted local animal shelters and local volunteers to see if anyone can takeover Clio's care once we leave. The shelters in Crete are full to bursting of poor dogs and cats that cant fend for themselves. There is simply no room for another kitten. Having lived in Spain we already have a number of rescue animals at home and simply cant afford another one but would like to bring Clio back to the UK and find a forever home for her. The alternative is bleak, she would have to fend for herself and where the villa is located its not very populated and tourist season is coming to an end!
What we need funds for
We need money to pay for vets fees to vaccinate Clio ready for travel and to treat the skin condition on around her nose. We might be able to get somebody travelling from the island back to somewhere in Europe to take her as a carry on but we will then to get her back from there. We need the money to do this as soon as possible as we leave Crete on 12 September and we have an offer of a foster home on the condition she is being adopted.
