Help Us Help Bella!!!

2 month old Bella has had a rough start to life.

My husband Craig's story:
"On 7/16 coming home from work I saw a little brown blur dart across the road 2 cars in front of me. It was a little brown kitten running full speed across the road;  we were all going about 45 mph and she was able to almost make it to the median when the leading car ran over her hind quarters. I thought for sure another dead cat but when I passed I did not see her in the road.  I made a u-turn, and going back up the road saw her writhing in pain under the guard rail in the median.  My conscience would not let me leave her there to die a painful death or suffer, so I again made another u-turn and parked my car alongside the road, waiting for a break in the heavy traffic to attempt to capture and rescue her.  Amazingly she had the survival skills and wherewithal not to run back into the road, but just ran up and down the median trying to avoid me.  After the 3rd try, I finally caught her as cars zoomed past on both sides.

She seemed intact, but clearly favored her rear legs and had a scrape on her chin.

Later that night at LVS in Fort Lauderdale, a highly qualified 24 hr animal ER, I was expecting the worst after the x rays.  I thought to myself whether or not she could be rehabbed and live, or have to be euthanized her due to her injuries.  It would be better than letting her die a slow death in the wild.

Amazingly we got optimistic news, with her being a kitten she was able to avoid serious internal organ injury and skeletal damage, as they said her bones were still forming and more "elastic."  But she nonetheless suffered a heavy break in her femur.

Not a death sentence but left us with three options:

1. keep her in a crate for a month to heal limiting her movement; she would have a severe limp, could never go outside and probably have early onset arthritis leading to a possible amputation down the road.

2. amputate now... who doesn't love a 3-legged kitten?

3. surgery to pin the femur - HER BEST CHANCE AT A FULL RECOVERY.

After being set home with many pain killers for her break and antibiotics for her scrape we are trying for option 3.  Unfortunately the vet stated we usually only have a week before setting the bone via surgery before it is too late, so time is of the essence.

Bella is a very sweet kitten and is very smart, I suspect she came from a known feral cat colony near where she was hit but with her being so young she has displayed no feral attributes.

She spent her first night with humans in a soft kennel at our home office, we put a small litter box inside and she has been using it!

After the surgery and she is stabilized we want to adopt her out to a good loving home.  Each step in her recovery will be documented and all invoices, vet bills and vet contacts will be made available.  So now we are asking for your help for this little girl to have a chance at a good  cat life going forward."

As many of you know, we currently have 9 rescue cats that we have taken in over the last 10 years, and we are at our financial capacity (our dedication to animals is bigger than our wallets).  In spite of this, we have taken her in and are trying to care for her as best as we can with limited resources.  My heart breaks when I see her little face looking so scared and feeling so alone.  I am sure, at only 2 months of age, she was still very attached to her mother (for whom she cried all night).  It breaks our hearts to see any animal in pain, and we will do anything within our power to help them.

We are so truly grateful for any amount that you can donate toward her surgery and medical care.  And if you can't donate money, PLEASE SHARE THIS CAMPAIGN WITH AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE!  PLEASE, we want to meet the goal within the week so that we can get her surgery done right away and save her from a debilitating future.  Will you help us?
