Help Fernie Defeat MS

Our friend, Fernie Gonzalez, is a 29-year old El Paso, Texas native. He is a newly wed to his beautiful wife Adriana. In addition, he is a loving son, brother, cousin, and friend to many more.

Fernie was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis just 6 years ago. Unfortunately, Fernie’s MS has become more aggressive causing him to start losing functions. He is currently using a knee brace because he has lost stability. He can only walk very short distances before becoming extremely fatigued. Other treatments he has tried have failed and his MS is only becoming more and more progressive. Right now the only treatment that has shown to halt MS is HSCT (Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant) which uses aggressive Chemotherapy to reboot the immune system and keep it from attacking itself.

Fernie sought treatment in Chicago, Illinois but was denied by his insurance. Now, he has found Clinica Ruiz in Puebla, Mexico but he must pay out of pocket in the amount of $54,000.

My husband is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I’ve never met anyone who has walked through such a blazing fire and yet has come out so resilient. I’ve seen him go from strong and athletic to weary and desperate. I’ve been there when his life shattered and I’m still here to help him pick up the pieces. I’ve seen his body fail when trying to walk more than a few minutes and I’ve felt his weariness when having to lean on me for support. I’ve heard him cry himself to sleep fearing a tomorrow in which he won’t be able to stand. Still we choose to believe in a God that is still doing miracles, and has given us science as a gift that has brought us hope to a future where disease no longer has the power. I know I will see the day when he runs again and when his body no longer fails him.
