Help Edgar and family recover from bad accident

The Semilla Collective New Haven is asking for your assistance in helping a steadfast friend, a fierce and generous activist, who is going through very difficult times.
Some of you may know Edgar through his direct participation and the art he contributed to protesting against wage theft in New Haven. He has been a very active member of the community for a long time. He was also very involved in the “Change the Name” campaign at Yale in 2017. We know Edgar as a very thoughtful person who was always willing to give a hand to the community whenever there was a need.
Unfortunately, on September of 2018, Edgar was driving to a job interview with his partner and his 8 year old stepdaughter, when he was involved in a serious car accident rear-ended by tractor-trailer. The truck driver was at fault. Fortunately, the child didn’t suffer any severe injuries but Edgar ‘s shoulder was hurt. Horribly, his partner suffered compound fractures in her left leg requiring multiple surgeries. Unfortunately, her recovery has been slowed by multiple life threatening infections in the leg requiring emergency surgery and hospitalization. Edgar is her primary caretaker and has been by her side 24/7 because she can’t walk and requires assistance even for the most basic needs. Some months ago, Edgar had emergency surgery to remove a blood clot in his chest that almost reached one of his lungs, and a few weeks later, he suffered thrombosis in the right leg and had to be hospitalized himself again. Since the accident, Edgar hasn’t been able to work and has survived with his partner all this time from monies saved working before the accident and through limited help from their family. They are in a critical financial situation and Edgar is not able to go back to work yet because his partner still needs a lot of help. Additionally, Edgar suffers from diabetes and since the accident, his health has been fragile and he fatigues easily.
Edgar needs our support more than ever. Our donations will help the family to continue to pay for rent, heat, electricity, gas for their car, medications, hospital bills, etc.

The Semilla Collective New Haven está pidiendo su colaboración para ayudar a un buen amigo, entusiasta y generoso activista, que está pasando por una situación muy difícil.
Tal vez algunos de ustedes conozcan a Edgar por su participación directa y su colaboración artística en protestas en contra del robo salarial en New Haven. El ha sido un miembro muy activo de la comunidad por mucho tiempo. Estuvo también muy involucrado en la campaña de “Cambiar el nombre” en Yale en el 2017. Edgar es conocido por ser un hombre muy atento, siempre dispuesto a ofrecer una mano cuando fuera necesario en la comunidad.
Desafortunadamente, en Septiembre del 2018, Edgar iba manejando a una entrevista de trabajo en compañía de su pareja y su hijastra de 8 años, cuando sufrió un accidente muy serio, un tráiler impactó por detrás contra su auto. El chofer del tráiler tuvo la culpa. Afortunadamente, la nena no sufrió lesiones severas, pero Edgar se lastimó un hombro. De forma horrible, su pareja sufrió fracturas compuestas en la pierna izquierda que han requerido cirugías constantes para colocar implantes. Desafortunadamente, su recuperación ha sido lenta debido a múltiples infecciones en la pierna que han puesto en peligro su vida y han requerido hospitalización y cirugías de emergencia. Edgar ha sido el principal apoyo de su pareja y ha estado a su lado 24/7 porque ella no puede caminar y requiere asistencia hasta para las funciones más básicas. Hace unos meses, Edgar también tuvo que ser operado de emergencia para remover un coágulo en su pecho que estaba muy cerca de llegarle a un pulmón, y unas semanas más tarde, sufrió de trombosis en la pierna derecha y tuvo que ser hospitalizado nuevamente. A raíz del accidente Edgar no ha podido trabajar y él y su pareja se han sostenido todo este tiempo de dinero ahorrado del trabajo que tenía antes del accidente y de la ayuda limitada de familiares. La familia se encuentra en una situación económica crítica y Edgar no está en posibilidad de salir a trabajar porque su pareja todavía requiere mucha ayuda. Además, Edgar sufre de diabetes y desde el accidente su salud ha estado frágil y se fatiga fácilmente.
Edgar necesita nuestro apoyo ahora más que nunca. Nuestras donaciones ayudarán a que la familia pueda continuar pagando renta, calefacción, electricidad, gasolina para el auto, medicamentos y gastos hospitalarios, etc.
