Aloha Friends and Family of the Durhams:

We are writing to ask for your help in raising funds for the Durham Family. Some back background of the situation.

On November 22, 2018, Lynette, Ricky's wife returned home with their children to find her Ricky standing in their driveway dazed and unable to communicate.

Upon getting him back into the house, Ricky collapsed  to the floor and had a seizure. After being taken to the closest hospital and stabilized, he was transferred to Tripler Army Medical Center, here on on the Island of Oahu.   After several hours  of testing, (CT and MRI's scans), it was discovered that Ricky has Stage 4 Brain Cancer. It is an aggressive type of Glioblastoma.

Early this morning Ricky, underwent a lengthy surgery to remove  the tumor, the 4-6 hours surgery was spent praying for a miracle. The doctors were able to safely remove 75-80% of the tumor. Ricky will need to undergo physical therapy learn to speak again as well as radiation and chemo to try and get rid of the rest of the cancer.

The doctors had originally given him a survival rate of 1 1/2 years to 2 1/2 year, but now Lynette is being told possibly only a few months. We are still hoping and praying that some miracle will come through

Lynette now must break the news to her 3 children.

Alittle bit about the family...

Lynette and Ricky have been married for 20 years  and meet right after Lynette graduated high school and Rick was stationed in Hawaii.  From the moment they met, they never wanted to be far from one another.  Every year, weather it was an Anniversary,  Birthday or Christmas, Lynette paints something to celebrate their love.

Ricky is the sole provider for his family and would do anything for his wife and kids. Ricky enjoys spending time with his family and making life long memories.

He is also a  Veteran of the United States Navy with 20 years of service and has made a career of the Navy and was looking to retire in a few years.

We are humbling asking to please help us in raising funds to help Lynette take care of the bills and provided for the kids in this difficult time.

Even if you are unable to donate, a kind word will go a long way. .

Hi everyone this is Lynette Rick's wife. Firstly I want to Thanks everyone for there donations and prays and everything we really appreciate all of it and send love and blessings to everyone.
Now for the up the update. We went to the Doctor today for check up to make sure Rick's incision area is healing properly and to find out about the biopsy results. Good news first his incision area is doing great healing just find. Now the bad news the biopsy results say that it is stage 4 cancer Glioblastoma. We are still waiting on more lab results on how aggressive it is but the Doctor still gives Rick 1 to 2 years. My Rick is a stubborn man and said it he is going to give a 100% on beating this and staying with us as long as he can and I'm going to be there every step of the way helping and supporting and praying. Thank you everyone and God Bless.

Update regarding Durham Family!

Hi Everyone, I spoke to Ricky's Wife, Lynette. She said he is doing much better. The neurologist did explain to Ricky the situation.

From the MRI, it shows they removed 90-95% of the tumor. They did take a tissue sample and sent it to the Lab so they can biopsy it, which will take a few days to get the results. The doctor did say even though it's stage 4, there are different types of stage 4, so lets hope and pray for the best case.

As for verbal communication, it seems it takes him a little longer than normal to communicate back. Lynette explanined that Ricky knows what he wants to say, but finding the word to verbally communicate is taking a alittle longer but it does come out eventually. I'm sure this is caused because he just came out of an extensive surgery and the wound is healing.

We are just very much thankful that everything went well and he's awake. Every little milestone is a win and we will take it as they come .

On a positive note, he is walking around with the assistance of a walker at the moment. He seems to be coherent and unstandss what people are telling him. The doctors are monitoring him quite closely and no signes of pneumonia. He is also eating by himself. Also, he can write his kids names.

Thank you for all the love and support you are showing to the Durham Family. Every prayer helps! Keep sharing and showing your supoort to your friend, family member and Verteran brother!

Much Aloha,
Melinda and Jericho

Hi Friends and Family,

I have a small update.

The surgery went well to remove most of it. Ricky is breathing on his own without the breathing tube and is communicating alittle with his loving wife Lynette by his side.

A lot of love and support from family members who flew out to see him and be by his side.

Also all the kind words everyone has been posting has made it easier to see the support behind him :).

I’ll have a more details alittle later when I speak with Lynette.

Please keep praying, ever prayer helps.

*~*~*Much Aloha*~*~
