My name is Dr. Marlene Ehrler and I am a naturopathic doctor and community advocator whose life work resolves around serving the health of my community.
Last fall (2018) I launched a program called The Land + Spirit Project which aims to share resources and actionable tools to help my community reclaim health, connect with nature, and pass this wisdom on to the next generation.
In May 2019, a company in Los Angeles launched and put up for sale a program that is literally identical to The Land + Spirit Project. Not a single aspect of the program was changed. This news was crushing to me to say the least.
As a small business owner with a young child to take care of and feed, I am in no financial place to stand up for myself and my community. In desperate need to speak with legal representation, I am humbly reaching out to my community for help. Copyright and trademark law is expensive, and most small business owners can't afford it, leaving them vulnerable to larger corporations stealing and profiting off of their work.
The funds will be allocated between legal aid (speaking with a lawyer), copyright/trademark protection, and any other legal costs associated with this case.
Because of the time sensitive nature of this case, donations are needed immediately.
I cannot express how much this will mean to me, my child, and my community. Especially during the time of social media, strong boundaries and intellectual protection cannot be undervalued.
