Let me start by thanking you for taking time to read my sister's story!! My prayer is that it will educate you on this debilitating disease known as "Lyme Disease". It is known as the "silent" disease as its victims appear normal on the outside while inside they are suffering beyond what we can imagine!!!
My sister Debby was diagnosed with Late Stage Neurological Lyme Disease in 2009 through a "positive" blood test. For several years she was bedridden with severe fatigue, pain, brain fog, cognitive issues and internal tremoring. She has spent the last ten years doing both traditional and alternative medicine to fight this horrible disease. Many of you have followed her journey through her Facebook updates and a blog she wrote during one of her stays at an alternative clinic.
In 2016 her neurological symptoms worsened. New symptoms began to appear. She had trouble swallowing and the internal tremoring became worse. She decided to investigate a more traditional approach. She flew to Washington DC to meet with one of the top Lyme doctors in the country. His protocol was extremely aggressive with a cost of $50,000 plus.
Her local doctor was concerned with these serious symptoms so he referred her to a local infectious disease doctor who immediately put her on IV Rocephin for 4 months. She had some improvement with her symptoms but due to this very strong antibiotic, had to have her gallbladder out. In addition, she developed pancreatitis. Due to this she was no longer a candidate for IV antibiotics.
In the beginning of 2018 she seemed to be doing better. She was having some good days and even able to get out and have a social life again. It seemed as though maybe she was finally beating this disease. Unfortunately, this was short lived. By the end of June her symptoms began to skyrocket. She currently spends 90% of her days in bed. She does all she can to grocery shop, cook and get her 15 year old son to school, church and all of his activities. Even these simple tasks have become a challenge.
I want to pause and share that after 30 years of marriage my sister went through a very difficult divorce. Not having the support of a husband has proven to be so very hard and she is having to make these difficult medical decisions on her own. With that said, she is one of the strongest people I know! Her courage to fight this disease has been more than admirable!!! She is still believing that she will win her fight with Lyme Disease.
After much prayer and speaking to her family, she has decided to seek treatment at Lifeworks Wellness Clinic in Clearwater, Florida. Her stay there will be two to three months. People from all over the world have gone to see Dr. Minkoff. He treats cancer, Lyme and other autoimmune disorders. There are many testimonials of patients who were sick for 20 years and got their life back. This is not a quick fix. There are many layers that need to be healed. We feel that she needs to get there as soon as possible. With the help of myself, her two daughters and friends she has made sure that her son will be taken care of while she is gone.
Her biggest need is financial. Traditional insurance does not cover the cost that she will incur. We are hoping to raise $40,000 to help her with the cost that is outlined below.
New Patient Appointment: $450.00
Labs & testing: $7,000 to 10,000 a month
Treatment/IV therapies/supplements, ect: $7,000 to 10,000 a month Housing: Up to $6,000
Watching my sister suffer from this terrible disease has been so very difficult. My prayer is that with your help, she can get the treatment that she needs to "finally" get well!!!
Thank you in advance for your prayers and support. We greatly appreciate it!!!

Update 12/2/18
Debby came home a few weeks ago after spending three weeks in Florida. She handled the treatments well but began running into some complications and after much prayer decided it best to return home.
Since being home Debby has seen some improvement. After being bedridden from July through October she has been out of bed some. That is a huge praise!!
She has found a local doctor who has an ozone sauna which is less invasive and much more affordable. So far she is handling it quite well. In addition she is still working with her doctor in Florida. She is on a strict diet and taking several supplements.
She is still dealing with some very uncomfortable symptoms but her spirit is high and so is her faith. She is fighting so hard and is believing for better days ahead!
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving together as a family. Debby felt better then she had in a very long time! As a family we are grateful for all of the prayers and financial support! Go Fund Me has given her the opportunity to explore treatments that she wouldn’t have been able to receive otherwise!
Please continue to keep Debby and our family in your prayers. Her journey is far from over but we will continue to support her and fight this horrible disease.
Once she gets through Christmas we will reassess where she is. We still haven’t ruled out having her go back to Florida for more treatments but right now we are praying her miracle will come with her being able to stay home!
Merry Christmas

Debby has a huge financial need. I am asking those reading this update to please pray and if you feel led, to please help her financially.
Debby has completed one week of treatment and has 3 more weeks to go before returning home. These next three weeks will be grueling as the doctor is treating her very aggressively!
We have calculated the best we can that the final figure will be close to $30,000+. With the donations she has received to date as well as the money she has pulled out of an IRA she is still several thousands short.
You can give on her GoFund Me page or if you’d rather send it directly, I’d be happy to give you the address of where she is staying.
I had the privilege of spending last weekend with my sister! It really lifted her spirits. The weather was beautiful and a walk on the beach was just what she needed!!! She has been encouraged by so many...
After this intense treatment ends her body will take time to heal. She’s been fighting Lyme Disease for 10 years so her journey back to health is a very long one!
Thank you so much for sharing this journey with us!!!!

UPDATE: October 21

Debby made it safely down to Sarasota, Florida last week. She had a lot of bumps in the road which delayed her treatments but her doctor was finally able to begin her first IV treatment Friday which was a huge answer to prayer.

Her doctor is being extremely aggressive and is determined to get her Lyme into remission. He has her doing a lot of very time specific things back at her hotel too and she’s on a strict fasting meal plan.

Debby is feeling quite sick and she’s extremely tired and weak but this is to be expected as the treatments are killing things off and her body is trying to detox. So it’s normal for her to feel worse before better.

Please continue to pray. Debby is a fighter and she’s fighting the biggest battle of her life. She’s also human and doing this fight alone is very hard on her as you can imagine.

Please continue to rally around my sister with your prayers and financial support if you feel led. Her treatments are outrageously expensive and I want her to be able to do everything her doctor wants her to do! She’s doing many things that were not budgeted for but I’ve told her I think it’s very important to do these things! The ultimate goal is to get her well and back with her family!!!

Hebrews 12:1-3 says, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfected of faith. For the joy set before him He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”

Thank you again for your prayers and support❤️
