Help Craig to the Para Nationals

Donation protected
My name is Craig McMurdo and 4 years ago I suffered a motorcycle accident, where I broke my back (T12 Vertebrae) and unfortunately this has left me a paraplegic.

This accident changed my life and my Family’s life forever. It hasn’t been easy for me nor my family – having to learn new skills and ways of doing things, but I have adapted mine and my Family’s life to this unexpected and sudden change.

I have always been involved in sports, growing up playing many sports including Australia Rules Football, Cricket, Squash and “A” Grade Baseball. After my accident, I thought I would find it very difficult, impossible in fact, to ever play sport again (which has always been a big part of my life), until one day I took my twin sons to an Archery “come-n-try” session at my local club (Bowmen of Melville) 1½ yrs after my accident and it changed my life.

The club encouraged me to have a go also and helped me adapt the art of Archery to suit me being in a wheelchair. I started competing in the club social competitions and haven’t looked back since.

I have been shooting now for only 2½ yrs and in that time I have managed to successfully gain all my outdoor target classifications and also my indoor target classifications shooting against abled body Archers. I have also gained acceptance onto the State Development Squad for Archery WA, the only disabled archer on the team.

Archery has given me a real feeling of belonging again, meeting some amazing and inspirational people along the way, from the people in my club (Bowmen of Melville) to inspiring disabled Paralympic & World Champion athletes like Jonothan Milne and his coach Ricci Cheah (Australian National Para Coach). It is something I wish to continue pursuing now that sport has become a reality for me again.

After a successful meeting and coaching session with Ricci Cheah, Australian National Para Coach, it seems now my dream to compete at a National & World level is now becoming a reality. So much so that I am now working towards my dream of representing Australia in the Archery division at the Paralympics and World Championship levels someday.

How you can help me:

An estimated $10,000 AUD is what I will need to begin chasing my dream of competing in the National Para Championships in January 25th-27th 2019 being held in Brisbane.

I will need the required funds to travel and take with me the required equipment, including my wheelchairs. I will also need help to fund an agent who will need to come with me to assist me during the National Championships and my time in Brisbane.

I hope my friends, colleagues, clients and anyone reading this story will be able to help me fulfil my dreams and show my twin sons that anything is possible, despite what life hands you sometimes.

No donation is too small!!

I thank you ALL in advance for your support and hope to inspire other people with a spinal cord injury that sport is possible and will change your life for the better.
