Help Cover Sid's vet costs

$1,670 of $1,500 goal

Our cat Sid (Sidney, The Pint Lion, etc) suddenly became very ill a couple days ago. We rushed him to VSEC in Philly at 2am and it looks hopeful. We've caught what looks like kidney disease but early enough we are likely to be able to manage it. The costs associated are very high (around $3000). I have managed to cover around $2200 with a credit card and my bank account. Unfortunately my car is also in the shop for major repairs and I'm not sure how to cover the expected costs from that and the balance of Sid's medical bill. In a world like ours I know there is more than enough suffering calling out for attention , so if you can't afford to help our or you feel your funds are better placed elsewhere I understand. But if you're able to help out any little bit will help and be appreciated.

We had to say goodbye to our sweet Sid last night. Our hearts are broken, but we also feel immensely lucky to have had fifteen years of love with him. We are deeply grateful for the kindness and compassion you showed us over this difficult time and how you helped keep us afloat.

Good bye, Sid. Rest in power and thank you for loving us so well.

Sid is back home with us and he's weak but improved from when we took him to the vet and, we believe, even from last night. He's a picky eater, which isn't helping for his treatment, but we are getting him to slowly eat over the course of the day. He's currently happily ensconced in a box, a box being his favorite place to be.

Thank you again for making his care possible. We are committed to only doing what is best for him and our vet has assured us we are following the right course of action. But that really is only possible because of all of your generosity. So, again, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We feel loved and are making Sid feel loved in turn.

We still don't have a clear sense of the underlying cause, but there is a treatment plan now. We are going to take him home tonight and do our best to help him get his strength. He's snuggling in my arms at the moment softly purring. It's hard to be with a friend for fifteen years, seeing him be so joyful and strong, and then so suddenly be weak. I wish I had a prognosis for you, but sadly we don't and without one we just have to keep perusing treatment.

If you can help out the costs are only going to go up. And if you can't, just be as kind as you can to someone or some creature today in Sid's name.

Thank you everyone. You've really helped us and made it possible to care for Sid. The vet has just updated us and told us we are going to go over their high estimate. It's looking like another $500 and unfortunately we have not been told the prognosis.
