Help Cole On The Road To Recovery

Donation protected
Friends and Family,

Just after noon on Sunday March 26th, 2017, Cole was driving northbound on US-69 Highway -  just south of College Boulevard, – when a southbound vehicle crossed the median and struck Coles vehicle head-on, causing the vehicle to roll several times eventually landing on the driver’s side door. Cole and his passenger were rushed to Overland Park Regional Hospital. Fortunately, the passenger in Coles vehicle was released with only minor injuries. Cole, on the other hand, was rushed into surgery as they discovered that his Descending Aorta (main artery in the heart) had been torn. After four arduous hours, the doctors successfully repaired his Aorta, ultimately saving his life. Following this procedure their second priority was to surgically repair his dislocated hip, which was causing a loss in circulation to his leg. After many attempts to properly set his hip, they were unable to succeed due to the rest of his injuries. Cole had now been in surgery for a total of 6 hours, when they decided to call it a night to give his body rest. On Monday, the plan was to finish surgery on the hip and then to repair his torn diaphragm in the afternoon. Unfortunately, they were unable to perform surgeries on Monday due to his “stability” – meaning that his body’s overall balance isn’t fit for additional surgery at this time. In order to bring Cole to a consistently “stable” state, Cole remains on a breathing ventilator, dialysis, and has received blood transfusions.

While Cole still remains in critical condition, he is holding steady and his body continues to fight hard. While the doctors have experienced great difficulty getting him to a stable state, things are looking positive! His fight will be long and hard, but every bit of positivity is fuel to Coles fire. As of today, Tuesday March 28th, 2017 the doctors have been able to reduce his blood pressure medication almost entirely, the temperature in both of his feet has gone back to normal and the necrosis in his left foot has reversed as they can now find a pulse. Tomorrow morning, Wednesday March 29, 2017 the doctors will perform surgery to repair his ruptured diaphragm. Cole has a long road to recovery ahead, but with a will to fight and the strength of those around him we are confident that he will get through this.  The injuries he suffered are as follows:
·         Torn Descending Aorta
·         Ruptured Diaphragm
·         Ruptured Bladder
·         Dislocated Hip
·         Displaced & Fractured Pelvis
·         And several more

As a result of the outpouring of support for Cole and his family we decided to start this campaign – with the intentions of allowing the Johnson family to focus on the health of their son, Cole.
