Help Cindy Get Heart Disease Care!

Cindy lives in the Dominican Republic. At age 3, she started dancing ballet which is her passion. By age 5, she danced on the Dominican Republic national television and again at age 6. At age 15, Cindy joined a professional dance company training 8 hours a day! It was around this time she got her first opportunity to teach and fell in love with it immediately. At age 16, Cindy graduated high school! Her goal was to come to the United States to further her dancing career. She did so on three occasions (to Miami) improving her skills each visit (but having to return home to not overstay her visas).

At age 20, Cindy decided teaching ballet is more important to her than performing on stage. So, she started her own ballet school for kids. Presently it operates out of her parents’ home where she lives. Cindy is a very spiritual young lady. Her students include underprivileged children (found through her church) who cannot afford to pay for Cindy's lessons. So, she trains them at no charge. Not bad for a young lady who just turned 21!

At age 16, Cindy was diagnosed with "Left Ventricular Hypertrophy" which is an enlargement and thickening of the walls of the heart's main pumping chamber. She must undergo very expensive quarterly examinations and take a daily medication called Valsartan (160mg).  Cindy's elderly father once subsidized her Heart Disease medical care but is no longer able, and she has no health insurance. Cindy needs immediate medical attention!

How do I know Cindy?
A few years ago, I volunteered as an “Active Listener” on a magnificent website called “7 Cups.” It helps people worldwide who suffer from depression and many other forms of mental illness. (I urge you to check it out!) One evening, Cindy randomly appeared in my 7-Cups chat (via type) queue. She was quite depressed and experiencing dark thoughts. After our initial chat, Cindy decided I would be her Active Listener for the next many weeks. When time came I no longer could volunteer in this capacity, I informed my “Listenees” so they could transition to another Active Listener. But, Cindy was determined stay in touch. We have done so ever since and have become great friends.

Who am I?
My name is Michael. I’m a Graduate of the University of Georgia with a BBA in Finance and a recipient of a Grande Diplome de Cuisine from the French Culinary Institute in New York City. My professional experience includes work in Finance, Marketing, Product Development, Commercial Real Estate, as a Business Consultant, Small Business Owner and a Chef of Classic French Cuisine. I’m fortunate to have traveled around this beautiful planet, for having lived in magnificent places and for having enjoyed many adventurous activities. But, eight years ago my life changed radically which accounts for why I'm turning to crowdfunding for helping my friend, Cindy.
