Help Christy with Health Insurance

I've worked my whole life to pay my way. I'm a Mental Health Social Worker who's career has been about helping others. Now I find that I'm the one who needs help.

I lost my job at the end of last year. This was after I had surgery following a car accident. On losing the job, I lost my health insurance. Cobra was too expensive, so I got a cheaper policy through the ACA. It's not great insurance, but it's adequate. It was just supposed to be temporary. My Husband was going to be hired permanently by his company and would get insurance for us both. But this was delayed due to the government shutdown. My husband has no insurance but can get by without it.

I'm not so lucky. I am Diabetic and Insulin Dependent. I also have Bi-Polar Disorder and other health issues. I can't be without Medical Insurance.

I'm looking for a job, but being an older woman in her 50's with Health problems doesn't help my prospects. Unemployment is running out and even with it we just can't make ends meet. We've burned through our of Savings due to medical costs and my being out of work due to first Disability and then the job loss. 

The monthly bill is due at the end of April and I don't know what else to do.

So we're looking to raise $2500 to pay for my Health Insurance for the next 4 months. By then things should work out. Even $650 for the next bill would be a huge help.

I've never liked asking for anything. I've always been one to pay my own way and help others when I could. Unfortunately, like so many people, our crazy healthcare system is knocking us down.

I know that there are so many good causes out there. So many people need help. I wish I didn't have to ask.
