My name is Brittany Harrison, and I would like to share my cousin's (pictured above's) story in hopes of helping her battle with the generosity of who reads this.

Growing up Bree, who is 1.5 years younger, was ALWAYS the clumbsiest.  We would laugh at the situations we would get ourselves in and the bumps and bruises because then, we knew they would go away and we would be left with funny memories. 

HOW IT BEGAN
About a year ago Bree's health started declining FAST. We noticed a couple of psoriasis-type spots on her legs but didnt think too much about it.  Then came the illness. The record we kept was 82 bouts of vomiting in one day... yes, one day. Her skin then started flaring up and she maintained her hopeful composure while waiting months to see a dermatologist.  The excitement for her appointment soon dissipated as she left the doctors office with no answers.  She continued to be so sick, she would vomit, lose her vision and hearing, and at one point she got a concussion from one of her fainting spells. She was fired from her job for her constant trips to the hospital and was deterred from going back to school as well. On one particularily bad trip to the hospital the doctor urged her to go on medical leave which she has been on for the past 3 months - trying to get to the bottom of what is wrong with her,  

HER SACRIFICES
She has since been to multiple dermatologists, had a liver biopsy, blood work every 2 weeks, and had to shave her head due to the loss of hair and sores that were formed on her head.  Next step is photo therapy and waiting for results. 

BREES BATTLE
Each day is a struggle for her.  I know this as I call every morning to check in.  Some days are great and she makes the most of them.  But most days she can barely get out of bed or the bathroom.  I have witnessed her go from a confident, bright, and sassy young woman to a insecure, hurting, and stressed out one.  It breaks my heart as I type this.

You know that saying "when it rains, it pours"?  Well we have learnt that pretty well.  In addition to her physical and mental battle, her biggest stress is her financial one.

THE $ CHALLENGE
She has filed for government assistance but in 3 months hasn't received anything.  Her mortgage is near impossible to meet as she has lost multiple roommates.  Our family has banded together to help but  there is only so much we can do - or so much that her pride will accept.  She has gone to the food bank and tried gaining money on the side by cleaning but her body wont let her do much.   Her health coverage has ran out and now that she is not working she isnt eligible for benefits.  Her basement is flooding. washing machine had to be replaced, and the list keeps piling.

MY HERO
Bree is not just a charity case.  She is my biggest supporter when it comes to my own charity for children with special needs.  She volunteers at many organizations and spends much of her time at the old folks home hoping to make someone else's day.  My cousin is a bright soul with a pure heart.  

This financial aid would help her immesely by easing her stresses of paying for the bills, allowing her to purchase a nice quality wig, and put towards her living expenses.
