Help Brandy with Medical expenses

A special note to friends and family of Brandy Morcomb…

Everyone who knows her will say she’s tough as nails and never needs help from anyone.  She emanates love and positive energy and is always there for friends who need her, without expecting anything in return.  Which is why it should come as no surprise that Brandy would never dream of asking any of us to help her through this battle of her life.  But she’s truly hurting, both physically and financially, and could really use our love and support. Please help us to help her through this GoFundMe account and remember - she’d be the first to do the same for each of us.

Below you’ll find the details of her recent medical battles. Brandy is suffering from symptoms of Lyme Disease and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome.  Mast cell patients are increasing in numbers across the country with very few doctors who understand it. Like Brandy, these patients are commonly misdiagnosed and struggle to receive proper treatments.  Meanwhile, they suffer from repeated anaphylaxis episodes that lead to expensive trips to the ER…

Sickness

In August 2016, while enjoying a concert at the Minnesota State Fair, Brandy had an anaphylactic allergic reaction and had to be rushed by ambulance to the U of M hospital. The cause was unexplainable.  This would be the first of SEVERAL trips to the emergency room over the next 2 years. Doctors incorrectly diagnosed her with having panic attacks, but medication could not stop the severe allergic reactions and other symptoms.

After months of traditional doctors failing to properly diagnose her, Brandy finally went to a naturopathic doctor who identified the mast cell related histamine problems she was suffering from and also that she may have Lyme disease.  She muscle-tested positive for Lyme in December 2017. Through an elimination diet, Brandy was able to see which foods were triggering these allergic reactions. She was only able to tolerate 9 foods, then 7, and by February, she was down to just 5 foods. As many of you have noticed, she has lost an alarming amount of weight and struggles to keep her body nourished.

Lyme Disease/Mast Cell Activation Syndrome

Earlier this year, Brandy started seeing a doctor who specializes in Mast Cell issues, which has helped to identify that Brandy’s mast cells may have gone haywire after suffering from toxic mold exposure in the home she had been living in.  Exposure to mold can be a trigger to activate both Lyme disease and Mast Cell issues.

The doctor believes Brandy may have Mast Cell Activation Syndrome which can be triggered by many things such as the environment, chemicals, foods, exercising, and heat.  When she’s faced with too many triggers, her histamine bucket overflows and causes a severe histamine intolerance reaction - as if her body is attacking itself.

Brandy also recently began two treatments with a naturopathic doctor, including Ozone Therapy, which is pure oxygen electrically charged and Rife machine treatment which is a plasma arc electrical beam that interacts with the body to stimulate the immune system. This helps to kill Lyme, Epstein-Barr, cancer cells and other viruses in the body that one cannot overcome on their own when their immune system is compromised.

She will receive both treatments twice a week for the next several months to help kill these viruses in her body and to help stabilize her Mast cells. If her body responds well they will continue with the treatments, as well other holistic approaches.

The unpredictability of the disease and the struggle of the medical community to treat it makes daily living a struggle. Simple tasks like shopping or going to work become nearly impossible at times. Currently doctors believe that if Brandy can control the underlying issues of possible Lyme; her mast cell disease will subside. Alternative treatments are not covered by insurance and can be very expensive.

Medical Bills

Brandy’s medical struggle has been financially overwhelming and her medical debt is climbing to well over $20,000.  She’s currently working three jobs to make payments on this massive debt. In addition to doing marketing and promotions for Red Savoy Pizza, she also works as an energy healer and Reiki Master at the Wellness Center in Minneapolis and also does sessions in her home.

Brandy cares deeply about people and loves being a voice of inspiration for others.  Through all of this, her spirituality has strengthened and she has deepened her relationship with God.  Her hope is that by going through these struggles, she will in turn be able to help others get through their own battles.

We are just hoping to take as much burden off of her as possible so that she can take the time she needs to actually rest, heal and not worry about how she is going to do all of this on her own. Anyone who knows Brandy knows that she is a spitfire, free-spirited, independent, strong woman who has no problem fighting through on her own, she takes no BS from anyone, including her own body…we just want to show her she doesn’t have to keep fighting so hard on her own.

In addition to financial support, Brandy could also really use your positive thoughts, energy and prayers that she will need for this ongoing fight for her life.
