Funeral Expenses for Bonnie Mathis

Bonnie Leah Byrd Leakins Mathis passed away on January 3rd, the purpose of this go fund me is now to help to bring her home from Tennessee to Florida and with funeral expenses. She had a very small life insurance policy that Is not enough to bury her and she lived month to month on her social security...she always joked “you can’t be rich and beautiful” and she got the good looks, beautiful inside and out.......................................
We were on Christmas vacation from Florida in Pigeon Forge Tennessee when Bonnie began to feel sick. She was vomiting and she thought she had a stomach bug. After 24 hours she was still vomiting so her daughter Jodi tested her blood sugar and she was at 585 so she rushed her to the ER on December 29, 2018. By the time she was admitted her blood sugar was over 800 and she had a heart attack. They loss her pulse and revived her and got her stable enough to be transferred to Fort Sanders general hospital in Knoxville Tennessee. The doctor said if she didn't bring her in when she did she would have died in our cabin for her daughter, granddaughter and great grandkids to find her, so we are so thankful for Jodi taking her. Once in Fort Sanders general hospital they did a heart cath on her and they kept her in a coma for 4 days which she had a rough time and went into atrial fibrillation 5 times. But she kept fighting and we woke her up January 2nd 2019.
Her daughter Jodi is going to stay in Tennessee with her but we have no idea how long that may be. She is on a waiting list for housing for families in need but not sure when a spot will be available and Jodi used all of her PTO to go on this trip. You may know her as Bonnie, Mom, Grandma, Aunt Bonnie or GG...but I'm sure everyone can agree she is a true Christian and is such a loving woman. Any little bit anyone can give will help her and her family. Thank you.
