Help Billy Fight Congestive Heart Failure

Billy is a beloved friend, coworker, partner to Saranelly, and father to an active 4 year old son and a 13 year old step-son. Raised in the South Bay area of Los Angeles, he’s known for always being upbeat, kind, generous - the guy who is always smiling!

Recently, Billy had been experiencing bouts of exhaustion, swelling and difficulty breathing. At 42 years old he chalked it all up to “getting older” and kept his head down while continuing to work and support his family. On Friday, July 12th, he was admitted to the cardiac unit in St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton with stage 3 congestive heart failure. His heart was functioning less than 20% of its capacity. Billy’s world and ability to support his family changed instantly.

Billy served our country honorably in the Marine Corps, and for the past 2 decades has been working in the demanding field of restaurant management. With the injury done to his heart, Billy is unable to work and has been placed on full-time disability. Receiving the disability benefits is still months away. Although, as a result of his service there may be some benefits, the VA is slow to respond and unable to commit to any time frame, if any. The proud Marine is now running out of options to support his family.

Billy’s focus now is all about healing his injured heart. Until such time as the doctors say he has progressed he’ll wear a defibrillator 24/7 (in case his heart stops).
