Help Baby Ochola

Our names are Alicia and Moses, missionaries in Uganda, Africa. We work to improve the education and agriculture field to help bring Ugandans out of poverty. We are expecting our first baby in December. We thought everything was fine until a few days ago. We were told our baby  has fetal hydrocephalus (excess fluid in the brain that can cause swelling and brain damage) and fetal hydrothorax (excess fluid in the chest that can compress the lungs and displace the heart).

I also have excess amniotic fluid in my placenta, which can pose a myriad of risks. The two conditions of the baby were diagnosed by a specialist here in our capital city. I have extremely high blood pressure as well. We are currently in Uganda, Africa.

The OB and pediatrician are urging us to go to the US as soon to possible to care for the baby there. In the states, they will monitor the baby closely, and use stunts either before or after birth to remove the excess fluid from the brain and lungs that are posing a threat.

We are trying to get an emergency medical visa for my Ugandan husband. We hope to be there within a few weeks. Getting the funds we need would help keep our family together, and give Baby Ochola the best possible chance of survival. We will potentially need a place to stay once in NY, a car, and money for survival.
