"Shaken Baby Syndrome" This should never had happened.......
I have come to know and love a sweet little boy by the name of Gannon. Gannon is a miracle baby who has endured so much trama in the past weeks that no baby should ever have too.
Here is Gannon's story......
" NEWS REPORT"
On October 25, 2018, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office along with Onalaska Fire Department First Responders and a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper responded to a 911 medical assistance call of a child unresponsive and not breathing. Due to the quick medical attention administrated by all responders the child which was found cold to the touch and turning blue was quickly revived. The 2 month old Gannon was transported to Chi St. Luke’s Hospital in Livingston where it was determined that the child had sustained physical injuries and later transported to Texas Children Hospital in Houston.
Medical evaluation of the child by Texas Children Child Abuse Team determined that the 2 month old had had been abused to the extent of causing brain bleeds along with ligamentous stretch injuries, and torn retinas as well as other documented abusive injuries.
"WHAT HAPPENED"
Shelby ( Gannon's mom) went back to work to do what she does, provide and take care of her babies, little did she know that on October 25th their lives would be turned upside down.
Gannon's momma had only been back to work for 4 days from her maternity leave when she received the call every mother dreads. Her baby boy wasn't breathing . She was employed at CHI in Livingston as a CNA and was on duty when her baby was brought in. You can only imagine the pure fear and terror of seeing her baby like this and not understanding everything that was unfolding before her eyes. She had left Gannon with his dad and siblings when she went to work, never would she had thought his daddy would hurt him. When Gannon arrived at the hospital she was told by the father he didn't know what happened , he had just stopped breathing! He was quickly transported to Texas Children's were quick assessments were made, and he was diagnosed with "Shaken baby syndrome". Soon she found out he had 4 brain bleeds , torn ligaments and retinas and was in a fight for his life. Shelby has been fighting for his life every since that day, has hardly left his side at all. His father sits in jail waiting his trial.
"WHAT NOW"
Gannon is recovering! He was released from Texas Childrens on November 21st, almost 1 month after. We know this is nothing short of a miracle from God. At home he has 3 other siblings ( ages 7 and under) and momma now is trying to figure how to support her 4 babies by herself, and continue Gannon's recovery . He is continuing to see doctors, and will be having therapy. Their is concern for his vision,and possible other factors that come with " Shaken baby syndrome " Gannon had another hiccup on December 5th, he became ill and was admitted for RSV, and was just released Dec. 10th. Friends this little guy has fought so hard for his life, for his momma and his siblings to be here with them. But he and his little family need our help.
I believe we are all able to help lift this burden a little off of Shelby's shoulders. I cant imagine this hurt and heartache she and her babies have been through. But I believe we serve a good God, and he places people in our paths so we can be the hands and feet of Jesus to them. Shelby just needs to be able to pay her rent , car note and utilities, diapers, basic necessities, and gas for a few months while she cares for Gannon and they get back on their feet. Gannon is not even able to go to daycare yet because of his injuries. So moms hands are tied and she has to be with her little man for a bit. She isn't asking for much, BUT she really really needs our help.
I did some math, and I believe its achievable! We just need a 100 people to give $35.00. There is the $ 3,500.00 and then mom can take a breath and focus on her babies.
I PRAY WITH ALL MY HEART GOD WILL IMPRESS IT ON YOUR HEART TO HELP SHELBY, GANNON, GRAY, GAVIN AND GWYN. THEY NEED US, LETS LOVE THEM LIKE JESUS DOES.
