For as long as I can remember I have been a writer. From my first short stories to my freelance work to my poetry and essays, I've always expressed myself via the written word.
Thankfully, I’ve been able to publish and share my work with the world in a variety of ways and have offered the same opportunity to others via my literary journal, Linden Avenue.
Recently, I was accepted into the 2017 Callaloo Creative Writing Workshop at the University of Oxford. That’s right! I’m headed to England to participate in a weeklong, intensive, non-fiction workshop. I am absolutely humbled that I was accepted and I am so proud that the essays which garnered my acceptance are based on my experiences in my hometown of Alliance and my home state of Ohio.
I’ve spent the last few years writing essays and poetry about the city and state that helped shape who I am. I am proud of where I’m from and want to share it with the world. This workshop will help me further hone my craft and give me even more tools to preserve and share Alliance and Ohio with the world.
But! I need a bit of help bringing this to fruition. Paying the registration fee is something I can swing on my own, but I need all the help I can get with travel and accommodations. Travelling from Philadelphia to the UK isn’t that cheap! All funds raised will be used to purchase rountrip airfare between Philadelphia and Oxford as well as the cost of my hotel. With this help, I will be able to pay all other expenses myself.
So, I’m hoping you can help me out. $1? $5? $10? Anything helps! I will be forever grateful if you can help me take advantage of such an awesome opportunity.
