Help Ash beat breast cancer

Donation protected
A couple of months ago our beautiful sister Ashleigh was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. This is news that no one ever wants to hear, especially at 26 when you have so much of your life ahead of you.

From the moment Ash was diagnosed, she has carried herself through everyday and every obstacle with incredible positivity, determination, bravery and strength.  From losing her hair, to worrying about her fertility, to having her life completely turned upside down, Ash has continued to astound us with her strength as she faces things that no young person even thinks about. Being the resilient person she is, she tries to work as much as she can through treatment to maintain some normality in her life. There are no words to describe how much of an amazing and inspirational woman she is. Despite the challenges she faces daily, she continues to be an amazing girlfriend, sister, daughter, co-worker and friend, making us laugh, encouraging us and uplifting us.

Thankfully, Ash’s cancer was caught in the early stages. However, her tumour is a Grade 3, which means that it’s aggressive and fast growing and only responds to chemotherapy. In addition to this, Ash tested positive to having the BRCA1 gene. This gene means that she’s at a higher risk of relapse and will require additional chemo drugs and more aggressive surgeries. She has already undergone 6 of her 16 rounds of treatment, which will consist of 3 different types of chemo drugs that will be administered over 6 months. Lastly, to reduce the risk of her fertility being affected by the chemo, Ash has to have monthly injections of Zoladex.

With both Ash and Jaryd missing work due to treatments and later on, surgery, financial stresses have and will continue to be an incredible burden. Anything you can give to help Ash and Jaryd will be so appreciated and we will all be so thankful. Any amount, no matter how small, will significantly help relieve the stress of daily living expenses as well as any medical costs so that Ash and Jaryd can focus on rest and recovery.

Whether you can contribute or not, please keep Ash in your thoughts and wish her and Jaryd a speedy recovery. If you would also like to keep up to date on Ash’s progress, follow her story on her Instagram (@ashvidaic). Please share Ash’s story and use it to remind yourselves and others to get checked regularly.
