Donations to The Trust will help and support Amy through the long continual path of rehabilitation and care. As a family run effort, every penny donated to The Trust goes directly towards helping this special young woman.
Amy's tragic incident has changed so many lives in unimaginable ways. Whilst doing our best to provide for Amy, the trust also hopes that by raising awareness we may prevent this happening to another person. They aim to educate and raise understanding of the seriousness of nut allergies and the potential consequence of severe anaphylactic shock.
Why did I choose this charity?
I recently came across a news story that hit me particularly hard and felt the urge to somehow get involved and help! As I am approaching 30, I am so lucky to be surrounded by amazing friends and family, I am healthy, I am happy at work and life is good!
It was the same for Amy May Shead, a young, talented, outgoing TV producer for the well known UK TV show "This Morning". All of this was taken away from her in an instant after just ONE mouthful of food containing nuts. Seeing videos online of her state now absolute broke my heart.
There are many sad stories, many worthwhile causes but reading this really hit me as Amy is a similar age and was at a very similar stage in her life. Happy, bubbly and outgoing with so much to give.
What am I doing to help?
There is a lot of information on the trust page on how you can get involved. Sponsored sport events amongst other challenges, along with simple social get togethers in Amy's name. It seemed like a great opportunity to dedicate my birthday gathering to the trust in the hopes of giving Amy a better life.
