33189084_1537667095378737_r.jpegMany have asked what can be done to help Ashley. Prayers are top priority and they have certainly helped pull her through this difficult time.  Friday, September 7th Ashley was admitted to Grace Hospital for a Crohn's flare up.  She was there until Friday, September 14th. In the early hours of Saturday, Sept.15th she had to be taken back for an excruciating headache.  They said she was dehydrated and gave her fluids and sent her on her way.  Sunday, Sept. 16th her headache had become even more unbearable and her vision became affected.  Her dad took her to Catawba Hospital this time and they did a CT scan and spotted something abnormal, a mass, on her brain.  She was immediately taken by ambulance to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.  She was admitted into Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit.  Her diagnoses was cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST). This is a rare stroke.  This stroke is different because it's a blockage in the occipital  vein in the brain. (Typically clots that cause strokes are in the arteries in the brain).  The blood wasn't able to drain and that is why she has a headache and vision disturbances.  Fast forward to today, Saturday, Sept. 22nd she is still in Neuro-ICU.  Her clots are stable which is right on target because they have to be very slowly dissolved.  In the meantime, her Crohn's has flared up again and is causing difficulties in the treatment.  She is loosing blood, having transfusions, unable to have head/eye pressure relief and she has a kidney stone!  This has, to say the least, caused a large bump in her road to recovery.  The worst part of all of this is she hasn't been able to see her sweet Parker.  She saw him once while at Grace.  The rules at Baptist (and most hospitals) forbid a child from visiting, no matter the circumstance.  She is sad about that and he is constantly on her mind.  Her dad has been by her side for the entire time. Please contact the following people for all your concerns and questions- Her dad, Jeana, Bailey, Sheila, or Maria.  We are trying to keep Ashley’s sadness and stress to a minimum and she misses her son terribly!!!

Ashley works but will be unable to for an unknown amount of time.  She has no income and no insurance. Prayers are top priority but if you can, and want to, help financially this is the way!!

Thank you so much and we will continue to update!!

Please say a prayer for her this Sunday morning.  She needs it today

Ashley is home!!! This update is from her:
I'm not sure where to even start but by first saying thank you. Thank you for every kind word, prayer, thought and donation. I've truly been humbled to see what kindness you all have shown me over the last 2 months. I can not explain the feeling or how I felt lying in a hospital bed not knowing what's next but being able to hear what everyone had written on my page literally brought tears to my eyes every time. I will forever be grateful for those encouraging words. My life has changed in the last 2 months a lot. Most days were really hard and scary. The fear of the unknown, not getting to see my beautiful baby boy, not being able to feel like a mom and even the smallest of things. Going outside to breathe fresh air, being able to take my kid to school or do homework, not being able to use the bathroom in peace, having someone looming over you almost every second of everyday, you just start to break little by little but a few days before I got out I sat and realized how incredibly blessed I am. I'm so thankful for every second I'm still here, for everyday that I can open my eyes and see what's around me or turn on the TV and hear what's being said. Open my mouth and still be able to speak, to get out of the bed and still be able to walk. I have no other words than just thankful. You never know why things happen the way they do and I'm sure later on down the road it will be revealed even more but I'm so thankful the relationship that I gained with my family during such a difficult time. Sometimes you forget how much they mean to you or how much THEY love you but to my family, thank you so much. I would've never been able to get to today without you by my side. We became a team and that's something I don't want to go away. I love you all so much and I'm truly blessed to have your love and support. I'm still nervous and uncertain to be home but I'm so ready to continue my journey. God has given me a testimony, a story. I called on his name so much these last months. He has gotten me here today and I know if it weren't for him my story could be much different today. That's why I will continue to call upon his name through everything, praise, love and thank him even on my worst days.
Thank you all. I'll never forget it.

Our prayers were answered! Ashley is out of surgery and everything went well!!! Everything went great actually! They were able to correct her issue the way we were hoping!!! Just a small section was removed! Hopefully 1 more week in the hospital for recovery. She has to remain off of blood thinner for 1 day after her surgery so we feel confident she won't form any more clots. Just keep her in your prayers please!! She has been asking for chicken pie and mac n cheese for 2 weeks while watching every cooking show she could!! Can't wait to cook for her! Thank you for praying and please keep them coming!

Please remember Ashley in prayer today. She is going to surgery now. She is having a stricture in her intestines repaired. She has been in so much pain and discomfort from this. We pray for great results and the least intensive surgery as possible. She has been unable to eat or drink since October 19 because the narrowing and inflammation has been very severe and even water has a difficult time passing through. Your prayers are appreciated. She has been through so much and is ready, past ready, for her life back. Thank you for caring and thank you for praying!

Quick update. Ashley was released from hospital on a Tuesday and was readmitted on Saturday. She just wasn't well enough to be discharged. They had planned on her coming back for Chron's surgery Nov.10. She needs it sooner rather than later. Trying to work out a few things and hopefully have surgery next week. She is ready to be home! She is nervous and apprehensive about surgery because of her blood clotting issue. So please just pray for peace for her and us. She needs the surgery but she is an unusual case so with that brings nervousness and fear. Peace that's what we, especially Ashley, need. Thank you all so much for asking and caring!
