Amara is a beautiful 2 year old little girl who had one of the most traumatic births, at 7 days old Amara had her lower right arm amputated due to thrombosis and cyanosis. Her lower arm was completely black. Amara also suffered a catastrophic stroke, her diagnosis "Cerebal Paralysis to multicast encephalmalacia from early cerebrovascular event, common right carotid dissection". Amara and her parents Stela and Bledi's lives are forever changed.
Amara lives in Albania with her parents. I, Flutura am Amara's grandmother and wanting so desperately to help. I live here in Oakville, Ontario and pleading to you to help my grand baby who is in desperate need of medical attention. I have created this campaign to try and give Amara a second chance.
Amara requires several surgeries, most important, to remove a blockage in her major artery that delivers vital blood and oxygen to her brain. This surgery is costly and only available to Amara in Italy. Amara since early in her life has only been able to see a specialist in Italy ONCE because of financial difficulties, everything is paid out of pocket. Amara also, suffers from tremors (seizures) that have not been controlled, she is very small for her age, only weighing at 20lbs! She is unable to feed properly and requires intervention such as a GTUBE, so now that is 2 surgeries she needs. She continually vomits 6-7 times daily during her feeds. She is profoundly handicapped, intellectually and physically. Unable to sit unassisted, no head control, non verbal and visually impaired, chronic constipation and reflux keep her very uncomfortable. Her parents care for her 24/7. She is inconsolable, cries in pain and rarely sleeps, her parents are desperate to help their little girl.
Amara has a long list of needs, from surgeries, to feeding, to equipment, there is NO HELP in Albania for a child like Amara, no specialists, no children's hospitals, no respite. This is why we need to get Amara to Italy, her parents are in this alone.
Doctors in Albania won't even vaccinate her from preventable diseases and illnesses because they are afraid of her complex and fragile needs.
Amara is a medially complex and fragile child.
Every single day Amara goes without medical intervention, intervention that would give her the quality of life she deserves.
I, Flutura am asking you to find it in your hearts to help my granddaughter. No amount is too small, every share is a blessing.
