Help Ali Fight Breast Cancer!

We are doing our best to keep moving forward in our new life as a family, but we are in a position where we are both struggling to pay our insurance and medical bills. I (Austin) am back on Medical Leave from work and still on disability. This is from my continued cognitive issues after I had a stroke and brain surgery last year.

Alison and I got married last year in June. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in May of this year. It is Grade 3, Stage 1, Triple Negative to be specific for those of you who are familiar with this cancer. She has about 10 weeks left in her chemo treatments. She has had to take care of me for the past year and a half, and we had a honeymoon at Emory Hospital for my brain surgery 2 days after our small wedding ceremony in Helen, Georgia.

After exhaustive deliberation, she has decided to get a double-mastectomy with no reconstruction instead of a lumpectomy. If she got a lumpectomy, she would have to have radiation. We want to avoid radiation if at all possible because it would be on the left part of her chest, near the heart. We know this is the right decision for her, and we will have more peace of mind.

We are so glad to have caught this early, and we are staying positive!
