Help aid Ha Giang's flood victims

The area of Ha Giang, Vietnam is one of the poorest regions in the country of Vietnam. The majority of families here are farmers that have been living in poverty. Each family earn less than $1500 usd/year.  Most homes  are very basic wooden shacks/cabins that do not have showers or toilets let alone air conditioning. Everyone sleeps on the floor.



On June 26, 2018, storms ravaged homes and wiped out crops along with the infrastructure. Flash floods and landslides collapsed many of these wooden homes. So far, at least 15 people are found dead and 11 are still missing. Countless families lost their farms and livestocks; their only sources of food and potential income. It will take many months to recover from this series of natural disasters so that they may begin to rebuild and replant. In the meantime, the victims and survivors will be living in even worse poverty than before.



Damages in the area are estimated to be in the $2-6 millions (USD).

My name is Peng Yin and I’m a registered nurse (R.N.) traveling with my partner that’s an M.D. We happened to volunteer on a medical mission trip in this region 2 weeks before this flood happened. I kept in contact with one of the local community organizations in the area. When these natural disasters happened, she reached out to me for help on her community's behalf. 



This is what your donation will go towards:

$1500 of the target donation will go towards buying basic necessities like food, water, clothing, blankets, and medication for 250 people. 

The other $2000 of the target donation will go to helping repair broken and damaged homes.

Every dollar counts - even if you can only spare $10, it can go a long way and it will be put to good use. 

Unlike large public organizations, where it’s unclear how your donations will trickle down to the victims (if ever), your donations here with us will go directly to the local contact in the village who will buy all those things above for them. She runs an orphanage/school in that area and is a trustworthy person.

I personally lived with the locals during my medical mission trip there. We met and treated many of the community members in our free medical clinics. They were all very hard-working, family-oriented, friendly and appreciative.

Update July 18, 2018:
The organization in Vietnam is unable to directly accept money from Gofundme due to gofundme’s policies. I will personally withdraw the amount first and then I will wire it to the organization.
