Help Abby Fight Kidney Failure

It is with disbelief that we share this news on behalf of our friend, Abby.
Abby Okoniewski thought she was coming to New Hampshire for a girl’s weekend, but that plan quickly changed when she was found to be in severe kidney failure. Abby, who had been complaining of a chest cold, decided to go to urgent care. From there Abby was rushed to the ER where she was soon admitted as a patient. She has remained in the hospital ever since.
For those of you who don’t know Abby, she is an active 28-year-old who loves to hike, camp, run, bike, travel and do anything in the outdoors. Prior to this weekend she was a healthy young woman looking forward to starting a graduate program in family counseling, something she was born to do. Finding out that she was in severe kidney failure was an enormous shock and will be a moment that will forever change the course of her life.
Abby has begun dialysis at Portsmouth Regional Hospital and will continue it for the foreseeable future while doctors determine whether a transplant is necessary. Once she is stable enough she will be able to fly back to Bend, Oregon where she and her partner, Jordan, call home.
The costs of keeping Abby alive are piling up very quickly. Between the hospital stay, dialysis, countless tests, procedures, and future costs the financial burden is astronomical. These costs would be challenging for anyone to bear, but especially a young professional who is just at the beginning of her adult life.
Abby is an incredibly kind, caring, strong person. While life is throwing quite the curve ball she is handling it with grace (and a little humor). Please support Abby’s medical bills by donating whatever you are able to. Whether it’s $100, $50, $30, or even $10 – anything will help lessen some of the burden that this has caused.
