Today, we lost a fellow logger. Hector Rodarte lost his life while working during a routine work day near Alsea, OR

Logging is inherently dangerous and it is a risk that every logger assumes each day they step onto the landing. Loggers will tell their families they love them every day before they load up into their crummy pickups and set off for work before dawn.  They do this because they know the risk, but have a profound sense of pride in their accomplishments at the end of a long work day.

As loggers, the values, morals, and ethics to have concern for the rigging team is ingrained in every person on the timber unit that is the current job site. They always watch out for eachother,  and the camaraderie built from this level of concern for one another is unmatched in most professions; although, it is almost never discussed and is simply a silent trait shared among the team.

There are many things in this world that are outside of our control, and this tragedy is a prime example.

Here and now, I ask that we help support the family of Hector through their time of hardship. It is important loggers, and people in general, support eachother both on the ground and in the aftermath of such a tragedy.  There is already financial support in place for such events, but anything in addition to always helps.
