I have known Anthony Scanzo-Masiero since he was about 7 years old. He is now a junior at George Mason University’s Honors College majoring in Criminology with a concentration in Law & Society, as well as minoring in political philosophy; with aspirations of becoming an attorney. It has been an honor to know him and watch him grow into a well-rounded, intelligent, and caring young man. He is not only intelligent (consistently making Dean’s List), but has also participated in various sports and music since the time he was young. His athletic and musical passions have continued into his college career where he has participated in George Mason’s Acapella group and club basketball team; having also been offered the chance to be a part of their Varsity D1 Basketball team that he chose not to do in order to pursue another dream (which will be explained shortly). One may wonder what makes him different than anyone else with similar aspirations and characters, but to know Anthony is to love him. He has a charisma about him and the ability to make people feel special when he is engaged in conversation with them. He is truly a caring and giving person that has volunteered with various organizations throughout his township, church and the local nursing home where his grandmother was a resident.
While Anthony aspires to become an attorney, he has also had a passion for music that began at a very young age. He took guitar lessons for a short time, but continued to teach himself; he has also never received formal vocal lessons, yet has an innate ability for singing and songwriting. That innate ability has recently been recognized and thus the reason for this Gofundme page. He has been offered a chance to record one of his own songs with a grammy winning producer, Joshua Paul Thompson; however, professionally recording a song costs money. Money that this young man has already invested in his education which has depleted the little savings he had. Anthony works during the summer months when he is home, yet has been unable to work at school since the Honor’s College requires extra work, he has participated in their MAson some NOise Acapella group, their basketball team, is a Mason Ambassador (a volunteer position involving giving tours and helping students acclimate to college life). Additionally, last spring he had an unpaid internship with DC Witness as a journalist. He has applied for a job at school, but it will take time to save the $5,500 needed to record his song. This is where WE come in...I would like to help in some way to get this Jersey Boy’s musical career off the ground and hope that others would like to do the same! Anthony is a humble young man who doesn’t necessarily want to become “famous”, but wants to “make people feel the way that he does when hearing music played from the heart”.
