Erin & Family's Rehabilitation

Donation protected
My friends daughter was run down by a drugged driver, released by a Bail Justice the night previous to him injuring and killing a mass of other people as well in Melbourne CBD.

Sadly Erin who is a bright, thoughtful and genuine person is still in an induced coma, she was hit as others with her escaped as she took full force blow shattering her little arm and falling hitting her head on a wall. We all saw the images, everywhere there is video of what happened.

I sent a message wishing my friend and her family a Happy Lunar New Year, she didn't call back. The next night I was called by Erin's Mother who broke down while talking to me. She explained how her husband and her are suffering, how she has stopped work to be beside her only daughter until she wakes up or passes. After two weeks of no income my friend, who I've kown over 15 years hit rock bottom.

I'm giving as much as I can because my friend has never had government support, cannot qualify for support from beside her daughter and isn't supported by TAC (Government Accident Insurance).

My youngest brother was hit by a car, riding my push bike as a young boy, it happens. I found Christopher on the side of the road, broke every speed limit to get to hospital behind him with a police escort. In hospital I touched and saw my little brother and thought him dead. That was the lowest point of my life. I wished it was me, wished I could trade places and be the injured one. The feeling is horrible, lonely and deeply, deeply sad and empty.

I also know that Christopher awoke from his coma in days, did sustain a brain injury yet managed to keep his cheeky humour, work hard, marry and have three beautiful kids.

Any person whose been through similar would want to give Erin the best chance to recover. Give Erin's mother some respite from worry about her bills, with breathing space of a few months to focus on hers and her daughter facing and moving through their horrible challenge to a better place.

In my 49 years I've not asked for help but helped many. Many have said, "I owe you!" or, "If ever you need help I will do whatever I can to help you."

I don't need help, my friend does. If you're one of those people and your word is good then please give what you can to help this poor family through their darkest hours, I'm calling in all promises made.

Thank you.
