Donna's Breast Cancer Journey

Donna, my life long friend was just diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer.  It has metastazed to her lymph nodes in her armpit.  Her Cancer Specialist informed her that the cancer is very aggressive.   Donna will be having a PET Scan, bone scans and numerous other test looking to see if the cancer has metastasized to other parts of the body.   She has to have a radical mastecotomy.  She will be having a genectic test done to see if her Breast Cancer Genes 1 and 2 have mutated.  If this is the case, she will have her second breast removed as well as her female organs.  Donna will soon have a port put under her skin and chemo will start then.  She has a very long road ahead of her.   Donna has health Insurance but there are still a lot of things needed that Insurance does not pay for.  The Breast Cancer Surgeon told her last night that it is URGENT that she gets started on all of the procedures now!
