Help 5-Yrs Yemeni Fisal Get His Liver Transplanted

We are friends of Fisal’s family. We reside in Edmonton and are originally from Yemen. we would like to share with you Fisal’s deteriorating medical condition. Fisal is a 5-year old kid who was excited to start his kindergarten last year. However, unfortunately, he was diagnosed with type 4 glycogen storage disease, with high bilirubin and cirrhosis. Due to this disease, he’s been hospitalized on a regular basis for sucking out the buildup fluid in his abdomen. It also affected his growth and weight gain. All these symptoms deprived this child of the right to live his childhood.

His condition got worse day after day to the point where his family was advised to seek medical treatment outside Yemen. Therefore, they travelled to Egypt which is the easiest accessible point for Yemenis due the current conflict in Yemen. They have been there since February 2019 performing lab tests and physical examination for both Fisal and a potential donor, who was recently determined to be his mother.

Fisal’s situation is very urgent and requires liver transplantation surgery soon. The surgery cost was initially quoted to be $38,000. However, after discussing the family financial situation with the hospital, they offered to treat him as a local patient instead of a foreign patient.  As a result, they reduced the cost to 225,000 EGP (~$18,000 CAD). The amount must be paid in full, otherwise, the surgery will not be carried out. Once the amount is collected, Ammar will withdraw the fund and transfer it to the hospital bank account under Fisal's name. (please see the cover photo for the hospital's name). 

Fisal’s parents are private, hardworking people. Fisal’s father has a monthly income of 60,000 Yemeni Rial (less than $200). Yes, it is less than $200! We believe that it is impossible for him to cover the medical costs, and that is why we need to come together to support them in this holy month of Ramadan. You might not know Fisal but he is a lovely little boy whose brothers, Abdullah & Amir, are missing him. Please help this family and give what you can even by sharing this crowdfunding page.
