Mental Health Book for Young Adults

Donation protected

Hello Me, it's You was set up to give a voice to young people about their experiences with mental health issues. In doing so, we hope to tackle stigma on the topic and make young people (and their families) realise they're not alone in their experiences.

Our founder (Hannah, aged 21) asked people aged 17-24 to send anonymous letters, written to their 16 year old selves into the project. They then got a designer (Jenny, aged 22) to pull key quotes and illustrate them and we self published them in 2016 . The response was amazing, and our Facebook page has over 1,000 followers and we've sold hundreds of copies.

Now that we have more followers and more people contacting us saying they'd like to contribute, we would like to create Book 2, with the aim of getting it in book shops so we can reach a wider audience.

This the money we're needing:

£275 to get us a table at YALC (the Young Adult literature convention) so we can engage with our audience and tell them all about the project - hopefully encouraging some submissions too!

£150 marketing materials for YALC - ideally we want to be able to have a banner and some free goodies to give away, so people don't forget us!

£225 for 50 copies of Book 1 to sell at YALC - we will make this money back with each copy we sold, so once we have we plan on investing that in free copies to send to schools/counselling services.

£120 - Netgalley fee. This is a free reviewing site where reviewers get early access to the book to review it for us. This boosts sales and means people can get free access to a really helpful book. (Book 1 has over 450 people with free access).

£200 - Facebook advertising. We'd like to be able to advertise the book to people who may not have heard for us before, and a  great way to do that is Facebook advertising. Our founder has a strong knowledge of social media advertising.

£80 - this is how much it costs just to set up a new title with the printer!

£500 - Marketing materials for school visits and free copies too. Our founder has visited schools before and given talks on her experiences with depression, and how that led to the charity being founded. They were well received and she's got more planned in the future!

As we're a non profit charity, all money received will go into the future production of more books, or into events such as talks or school visits. We'd love your help to make this book a reality!

If you'd like to contact us, you can get in touch via our contact form on our website, just here!
