Hello Community,
My name is Heidy Rodriguez. I have been called to be a Doula and plan to attend a three - day training in December at Bini Birth.
What is a Doula, you may ask?
A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.
More and more the calling to be a Birth Doula becomes clearer to me. Most recently in the way of a powerful article that resonates with my faith, Sheroes of the Faith: What We Can Learn About Creative Resistance. I quote the author, “resistance happens at the hands of women fulfilling their vocation.”
Since I was 11 I remember staying home and watching birth stories over the summer, because I loved the babies and the stories of how they came into the world. As a politically active latina and social justice advocate, I find myself itching to be of support to mothers to witness their own transformation as they bring the miracle of life and resisist threats to our reproductive rights. I also beleive in decolonizing birth practices and keeping traditions alive. All my foremothers called upon their natural resources to give birth .
My aim is to be a full-spectrum Doula, meaning, trained to support individuals and families through all pregnancy outcomes, including abortion, miscarriage, and adoption. With my training I hope to be a bridge for others to have access to respectful, supportive reproductive services, as well as access to information. If you believe in a generation free of trauma then it begins at birth! Please feel free to donate whatever is in your heart, no amount is too small.

My Doula Training will be Dec 8-10th at Bini Birth : $550
I plan to go further in Full Spectrum Training with the LA Doula Project : $150
