Hegwood Family Home Fire

As many of you know, my nephew, Pat, and great-niece, Hope, recently suffered the loss of their home and most of their belongings due to a house fire.  

Pat and Hope have lived in their home since Hope was born.  Up until three years ago, Hope’s mom and Pat’s soul mate, Nancy, lived there too.  Just before Hope’s 14th birthday, Nancy lost her battle with ovarian cancer.  Hope lost her mom and Pat lost his best friend.

Pat does have renters insurance, which will cover some of the cost of replacing household items, like furniture, linens, dishes and clothing, but it won’t be enough to make up for the loss of their home.  Temporarily,  Pat and Hope are staying with dear friends until they are able to find a place of their own. 

It breaks my heart that Pat and Hope have lost their home and the place where they were still a family with Nancy.  My goal is to raise funds to help them move into a new home where they can get back on track with their lives, Hope can enjoy her senior year of high school, and they can create new happy memories.
